Note: Charles A. Baker in Civil War uniform Co. A, 3rd RI Heavy Artillery (View close-up of cap for insignia of crossed canons.) He went into the Union service as a private and left as a wagoner.  Mr. Baker was born in Dennisport, Cape Cod in 1841. He relocated in Nantucket after the war, and then moved to Woonsocket, RI. He was employed in the bridge department of the Consolidated road. He lived in Central Falls and Woonsocket for 23 years. The last 8 years of his life he lived in Warwick, RI. At his death in 1901 he was 60 years old. He left a wife and four children - two boys by his first wife and two by his second. "Old Resident Dies," Pawtucket Times, January 17, 1901.
