Mrs. Jennie Dunham
Nantucket Island
Nantucket, Mass.

Dear Jennie, Dora’s husband passed out last Tuesday, week. Eliza is down to Bullers – too bad for all. No word from you or O.  Emma

Although Emma did not know it at that moment, she was relaying the news of George W. Durbrow's death on August 13, 1912.  On many counts Durbrow was a remarkable individual, whose own celebrity revolved around his sucessful business developing salt mines west of Los Angeles.
