Ann Baker married Henry C L. Dorsey in 1859.  This photograph of the Dorseys was taken between 1864 and 1867, early in their marriage.  During this period photographers were required to collect a tax for the war effort.  This tax stamp on the reverse was deliberately placed to obscure the name of the photographer - Dunshee.  The shop had just been sold to Randall & Fessenden (whose names are handwritten on the stamp itself).  They were recycling Dunshee's cards while awaiting their own to be printed.
