Arranging a benefit for E.G. Bert, April, 1864

San Francisco, April 19, '64.

Mr. E.G. Bert:  My Dear, Kind Friend:— ln a few days I shall leave California, endeared to me by very many kind, true-hearted friends, to journey to a foreign land; but ere I go I would like to make some return for the many acts of kindness I have received at your hands, and if you would accept of a night's professional services, it would be a source of delightful pleasure when far away and thinking of the dear ones I leave behind me, to know that my last night in California was devoted to the interests of one of my truest and dearest friends. Hoping a speedy reply and acceptance,

I remain yours, sincerely.

MISS LOTTA
