A disastrous tour of the Northwest had long-term economic consequences. Canadian immigration regulations placed his troupe, and scores of Chinese laborers, in quarantine. The summer season of 1884, and his investment, is shot. On the bright side, in New York, the phrenologists published a flattering recital of his genius, as clearly seen by the shape of his head and the arrangement of his facial features.
